A sure way to stop a red-hot argument is to lay a few cold, hard facts on it.

Chris,
I can face facts all I choose to. If someone else won’t, then the next fact I have to face is they are in the mode of “Don’t confuse me with the facts! I’ve made up my mind!!” This is both the beauty and curse of personal choice.
I know this intimately. I was raised by someone like that, and I raised one. (They were both very high D’s with little or no S in their mix. Has anyone else found this to be true for more of them than the ones in my life??)
For dealing with people who have made up their minds regardless of facts, I’ve found all I can do is remember 2 other things, “A closed mind gathers no thought,” and “People of integrity expect to be believed, and when they aren’t, they let time prove them right.”LikeLike

Chris,
I have found it also true that an argument can be prevented if facts are given before there is any issue.
Where do you get all of the cool pictures? Do you have a stash somewhere?
Thanks,
JohnLikeLike

I can’t say that I like Mark Twains quote, but it is true. Some facts can’t be distorted, like the fact about gravity. However, a number of people have done a very good job of distorting the facts, ie, Hitler, Mussalini (spelling), and Stalin. Can we think of anyone else who has distorted the facts to their advantage?

Laying a few cold-hard facts on the wife doesn’t work…..ever:)
Laying a few cold-hard facts on a discussion with the arrogantly ignorant will only confuse you. You’ll be driven to crazy town when you realize that they completely disregarded those facts and continue talking.LikeLike

Chris:
Unfortunately, there are those who confuse fact and fiction.
I like what you said about digging for facts is better than jumping to conclusions. Unless one is willing to dig, they are unable to distinguish the two.
Great thought provoker.LikeLike

Hello Chris, thanks for this post!!! It was providential in the content and the timimg. David and I are so thankful to Jesus for the thin thin threads which led us to the TEAM. The saying is so true, when you realize you do not know what you do not know, you can learn even more than you ever imagined. May God continue to bless you and Terri.
