At a speaking engagement in central Florida yesterday, I had the pleasure to meet many very fine people.  In one of the conversations I was asked to make available a list of principles I had presented.  The following is in answer to that request.  May these principles of leadership and life (which I have learned from others) prove as helpful in your life’s journey as they have in mine!

1. Focus only upon what you can controlPrinciples_pic_03

2. the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing

3. it’s not what happens, it’s how you respond

4.  everything happens for a reason

5. God is sovereign and in control

6. most things you worry about never come to fruition

7. one person CAN make a difference

8. anything worhwhile is usually difficult to accomplish and takes time to do so

9. who you are is much more important than what you accumulate

10. there is a such thing as RIGHT and WRONG

11.  action builds strength, inaction builds weakness

12. people resist a challenge, but are the happiest when they are engaged in a challenge

13.  leaders are always just normal people who adhere to great principles and ideas

14. we are all here for a purpose

15. people matter (more specifically, INDIVIDUALS matter)

Based on the Bible, control in life is more complex, than God just controls it all. From the very beginning, God gave us dominion. Dominion was lost to an enemy. God slipped in and restored dominion back to us in Christ.
Why is this important? Because it will save us a lot of needless toil and unnecessary bad situations. Bad situations aren’t God trying to teach you something for some mystical purpose. God delights in bringing us out and keeping us out of those situations. God has a Father’s heart. He wants to bless our socks off! The more we learn what we control in our relationship with Him; the more we can allow Him control in our lives so that great situations take place in our life and we can reach out to more people.

Thanks for your comments. We have together touched upon one of the deepest, most interesting paradoxes of the Bible. Somehow, beyond the understanding of our feeble minds, God is both sovereign on the throne but still allows us dominion. We cannot be fatalists that just sit back and think God won’t hold us accountable for our choices, nor can we save ourselves by what we do. Thanks for being an active brother in Christ! May He bless you to His glory on your leadership journey!

Thanks Chris. God’s grace and mercy are truly beyond imagination! One day you and I will sit across from each other and delve much deeper into this topic of understanding who we are in Jesus. I still have many plans to show before I earn that right. In the mean time, study up on your E.W. Kenyon books. I’d hate to have an edge when the time comes ๐Ÿ™‚
