One of my favorite Chris Brady quotes:
“Give yourself time to be great!”
I have that quote posted in a room of our house to remind me daily that it’s an ongoing process.

    Chris,
I have been trying to limit my comments so as not to be a blog hog. I am new to leadership development in the educational sense. I am now one of your most serious students, reading, listening, and learning.
However, I just felt compelled to pass along this story to you.
Two weeks ago about 40-50 people, hungry for leadership development and personal growth, embarked upon a 7 week study of Launching a Leadership Revolution. Randy and Susan Walker have been our fantastic teachers.
Week one was a basic overview and an opportunity for everyone to meet each other. The class consists of a broad range of backgrounds and experience ranging from a few young 20 somethings to some retired folks from all walks of life.
At the end of the week one meeting, names were drawn, and some door prizes given out. One of the young guys (who works with the youth ministry of his church and youth at the YMCA) was awarded with a copy of your CD “Character”.
    Fast forward to week 2:
Terrible rainstorms and a 2 hour trip, one way, in horrible traffic, we arrive to find about 40 hardy souls joining us for the class.
After splitting into 4 small groups, with a facilitator to keep things moving, and a thought provoking outline asking us tough questions, we joined back together as one large group.
One by one the facilitators were called in front of the group to pass along items of interest discussed in their groups, and to call up someone from the group to repeat something if they felt it was important.
Kyle, the young guy who won your “Character” CD was called in front of the group. Let’s put it mildly and just say he looked a little terrified.
Kyle told this group of people, most of which he had only met the week before, that when he won that CD he thought to himself, “What do I need this for?”
A young 20 something, youth minister, YMCA worker, not going out, drinking, partying, and whatever else his peers are doing?
Why would he need a “Character” CD?
Kyle explained that he went ahead and listened to the CD anyway. Heck, it was free. He listened to it again. Again, and again.
Kyle lives at home with his parents, and although he is technically an adult, he has had conflict with his parents while living under their roof.
Apparently, it occured to him that he was being disrespectful to his parents by words and actions.
Kyle told us that he chose to work on HONORing his parents, even if he felt what they said or did was wrong. He IS living under their roof. Things were much better after just one week.
    What a powerful thing.
Chris, maybe you get told a thousand stories like this every time a CD comes out. I just have to tell you that being at that place, hearing this young man speak from his heart, gave me so much hope for the future. I got to witness exactly the purpose of the Team happen in front of my eyes. Everyone there got to see that we can make a Difference, one human being at a time.
I just wanted to take the time to let you know, that aside from leaving your home, flying to some different town, and talking from some stage, that the ideas you presented made a huge impact on all of us waaaay down here in Texas.
Thank you for that Chris Brady, from the bottom of my heart.

    PS.
Is there anytime in your busy future where speaking in Houston may be penciled in. I know a 20 something year old man that wouldn’t miss it. Neither would I.

I am glad you like that quote! I don’t even remember saying it, but I am sure I got it from some smart person somewhere! God bless you on your leadership journey! Thanks for being part of this collective growth experience with the rest of us.

Thanks for sharing that story with the rest of the participants in this blog. And don’t worry, you will never be a blog hog. This is meant to be an environment of exchange and sharing and growth, and input from people like you is invaluable to helping everybody else. I am thrilled that the Character CD made a difference in one young man’s life. And yes, I will be appearing in Houston sooner or later! I look forward to meeting all of you then! Until that time, lead on and God bless!
