So how is your life going?

Is it what you always wanted?

For most people, the answer to those two questions is not good. They somehow have worked hard for a chunk of their life only to end up some place they don't want to be. Not good, indeed.

Let's not even bother analyzing in this article how you got to be where you didn't want to be. We'll delay that until I'm feeling more philosophical. Instead, let's cut to the chase. If you don't want to be where  you are (figuratively, and perhaps physically speaking, too), the question is, "Where DO you want to be?"

The answer to that question for most people, interestingly, is fuzzy! And therein lies the problem. If you don't know where you want to be, you sure as heck won't end up there.

So what's it look like; the life you've always wanted? What does it feel like? Who's in it? What do you do with your time? Whom do you serve, love, and laugh with?

The key to answering these questions comes from knowing yourself. What has your Creator given you? What are you good at? What makes you feel rejuvenated and alive? What makes your adrenaline pump? Also, what stirs your soul, stokes your righteous anger, and brings out your courage? It is there, at THAT red X on your Life's Treasure Map, where you should start to dig.

It's your life. You only get one chance. Don't waste it doing something that you weren't built to do. Don't invest your life in something that doesn't matter.

Because of a new association, new way of thinking and Christ in the past handful of years, I have replaced some bad habits with good, paid off all of my 15K in consumer debt in the last 3 years, got married, have bigger and better relationships with family and friends, go to a great church, and hav a good job.
So basically, I’m back to neutral.
Now, it’s just a matter of thinking BIGGER for me. Although I haven’t been clinically diagnose as crazy, all day, in my mind, I have debates with others…friends, “scholars” etc. about the truths of the world. These debates haunt me:) Religion, politics and business are three powerful avenues in which to spread this truth. My desire is simply to live truth at the highest level while compelling others to do the same for themselves. I just need to make it real and specific.
“As we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Just as you were, in the past, I was exposed to a system of tapes and books and wonderful people. I made friends with many of them. One of the bigger leadership team leaders formed a great friendship with me. Due to the books and leadership, I found a woman to be my life partner (married her-born again christian). With her I realized a much stronger sister/brother type relationship to the leadership couple above.
I agree with Chris Brady when he says we are about building relationships with people, a community of people relationships who trust each other and want to be together. We dont have to worry about people being false as only the results performers get bigger, not like the job where it’s sometimes clueless as to who rises to the top.
The things I dream about are:
1-knowing Chris Brady and Orrin Woodward personally-much results will be required.
2- really getting to know my parents in a stress free arena.
3- Being able to spend time with people I grew up with in the place where we grew up, the farm.
4- spending time with my wife with her friends where they grew up, Isle of Palms-beach-SC.
5- retaining the family farm. Did you ever feel close to dirt? Especially since you know your great-great grandfathers and grand mothers worked it? Is that crazy?
    6- Maui-Hawaii.
    7- Paris, France. The Louvre.
8- Scotland, where my mom’s ancestors came from.
    9-Israel.
    Just to name a few.

    Chris:
For me, I must have a passion for whatever I choose to do in life. I feel that we are not at our best unless we have that burning passion.
I guess my struggle is your words: Don’t waste it doing something that you weren’t built to do. Don’t invest your life in something that doesn’t matter.
Can you have a strong passion to accomplish or do something and it not be something you weren’t built to do?
Dreaming big does not always come as natural as serving hard for me.
I do get a little fuzzy in the dreaming big category.

What does my ideal life look like? Here’s the short list:
    1. Debt – Dumped. Out of all debt except the debt of love to one another, as the Bible calls it.
    2. Jobs – Fired. We fire them as being unnecessary in our lives.
    3. Grandparents – Full time. Or at least as much time as we want.
    4. Alarm clocks – Smashed. Well, we might keep one, just to get us up for early morning flights to fun places!
    5. Sleep – Until we’re done. Go to bed and get up when we want, instead of when we have to for a work schedule.
    6. Church & Charities – Funded. Instead of a bit here and there.
    7. Ancestry – Located. Fill in the gaps for hubby’s grandparents and before them, and my grandfather and before him. Even if it means an extended trip to Ireland and Scotland . . .
    8. Hobbies – Pursued. My list is long, and hubby’s is, too. Lemme see, craft projects, scrapbooking, drawing, painting, knitting, crochet and so on for me. Home projects, skiing, water sports, board and card games for him. For both, reading, music, art galleries and concerts.
    9. Fitness – Enjoyed. Being able to go to the health club at leisure.
    10. Home – Spacious. Room enough for the kids, grandkids, hobbies, friends and whatever!
    11. Land – Lots. Horses, gardens for food and flowers, greenhouses, water, elbow room!
    12. Vacations – Whenever. There’s a whole list in and of itself! Taking hubby back to Kuai and Seattle and letting him take me bact to Panama and the Caribbean; going to Paris, London, Japan, China, Italy, Africa on a photographic safari, India, an Alaska cruise, all around the U.S. . . . The list just goes on!
    13. Family. Close relationships with our kids and grandkids. Visiting our extended family members (who are scattered around the U.S. and the globe) whenever we want.
    14. Disney. Every Disney park we want, in whatever country it’s in. And any other theme park we want, including all the 6 Flags parks, too. (Hubby’s a roller coaster fanatic!) With kids and grandkids, of course!!
    15. Friends. Having the honor of calling Chris and Orrin and their wives (and the rest of the PC) our friends. Having a group of people who look to us for leadership, and are proud to be our friends.
