As soon as you decide to lead you open yourself up to assault. This is because leadership itself is an assault on the status quo. Living a life of peace and affluence is a hollow goal, and an unobtainable one, anyway. There is no way to get through life safely; we'll all get battered around and bruised up in the process.

Deciding to lead, however, adds another dimension to the equation. When you stand out from the rest, stick your head up above the crowd, and generally head in the opposite direction of the herd, you will meet resistance. Expect it.

I never cease to be amazed at the amount of people who want to either coddle themselves or others in the vain hope to keep things easy. As if struggle and challenge were bad things. Excellence has a cost, plain and simple. There is no shortcut to it. Greatness demands wholehearted effort, stamina, honor and character, and a massive dose of tenacity. Wimps need not apply.

One of the greatest lies ever told is that success is not worth the price. I got that from Canadian Claude Hamilton, who thinks more like an American than most Americans I've met! Thanks Claude, for putting it so clearly! And a hearty salute to all of you out there who have the guts to pursue your dreams, build your character, live with honor, and push yourselves toward excellence. There is no sweeter victory than the one dearly bought. Be willing to pay the price and be bold enough to expect greatness as a result! The world needs it!

Chris, like you said at the super rally; “If you’re gonna follow the herd, the herd ALWAYS gets slaughtered. Do not follow the herd, be courageous to stand and out and to be different. There has never been a statue resurrected to those with whom settle for mediocrity!”

Thanks for a great weekend and helping define where we are going on this wonderful trip we call life. One of my favorite quotes is,”Those who expect to reap the benefits of freedom, must also undergo the fatigue of supporting it.”

Absolutely! Moreso than ever, trying not only to ingrain this value in our kids, but consciously living with this mindset on a daily basis! Onward and upward in pursuit of excellence!

It’s no wonder I can’t get the image out of my head from St. Louis where Lana was crying and telling the story about her telling her mom “He is my family” when her mom was saying that it was her family’s job to take care of her. They are definitely a classy and respectable couple.

The greatest thing about Claude’s journey, and any other success journey, is that he never had any guarantees. He even hitch-hiked across Canada to get to an event that was necessary for his success. There was not even a guarantee that he would make it to that event. But he took a leap of faith and bundled that with his own persistence (which he did have control over) and away he went.

It seems to be an irrevocable law that those who have the greatest to overcome, will reach farther, work harder and dream bigger than those who are “comfortable” in their complacency. It goes to show that when have gotten to the point that you have nothing to loose, you have but everything to gain. Having been in Canada during the season of the year that Claude’s journey took place I have to tell you that only some one who is a true believer and committed to his cause could have completed the journey.
We are so very grateful for the ever present examples of the level of leadership and commitment that the members of Team embody.

When you have the commitment to your dream that Claude had, you don’t even stop to count the cost, you just do the next thing. Not only was I inspired by Claude and Lana’s message, my commitment level was challenged even more! What great leaders they are. Thanks for letting them share their story!

    Chris:
I think you have made this statement many times. “Life isn’t easy.” It will knock you around, but as you have also said, it is how you react.
Nothing is easy in this world, so expect challenge. Embrace it.
I so respect all the leaders as your jouney’s were not easy.
Claude and Lana certainly gave us a major example of that. All the leaders have their stories to tell.
You and Orrin have certainly had your struggles along the way.
You and Terri just had a major struggle of her health and other things were thrown at you at the same time.
Yet, you all rise above, and continue to keep on fighting, growing, overcoming.
You are all such wonderful examples for us to follow.
Thank you all for leading the way.
    God Bless
    Phyllis
