Decoding Socialist Phrases – A Collaboration

Suckling_Pigs One of my favorite exercises on this blog is when you, my 3 loyal readers, participate in a collaboration. For this one I'd like to have you assist me in putting together a socialistic jargon de-coder. Let me give you a few examples below to get you started (with thanks to author Alexander Boot for the first three):

1. "Protecting the less fortunate" is code for (or really means) "expropriating the more fortunate."

2. "Investing in health care and education" is code for "expanding . . . bureaucracies and increasing taxes."

3. "Investing in industry" is code for "crypto-nationalization."

4. "Equality for all" is code for "taking from those who work and giving to those who won't"

5. "Universal health care" is code for "governmental control and inefficiency in health services"

6. "Ear marking" is code for "giving handouts to our political supporters"

7. "Expanding the franchise" is code for "including the deadbeats."

8. "Compassionate programs" is code for a "burgeoning welfare state."

9. "Stimulation package" is code for "tax payer money taken from the middle-class and given to the finance industry"

10. "Democracy" is code for "Mob rule and the death of the individual."

11. "Choice" is code for "abortion."

12. "Evolution" is code for a "substitute religion which allows the disavowal of God."

13. "Spirituality" is code for "religion without morality or absolutes."

Oh, this is so much fun! All one has to do is listen to the news for a few minutes to get hundreds of these. I can't wait to read yours!

    “Evalating the situation” is code for taking a “he said/she said” situation at the face value of the one first heard, and believing any evidence to the contrary is prejudicial because it comes from the other side.
    “Exercising due process under law” is code for releasing enemy POW’s into the general civillian population of the country they were fighting against, and giving them “assistance in starting new lives,” which is code for “taking from those who work and giving to those who won’t”
    (Sorry to borrow your words, Chris. They were just too much better than mine for that one!)

    I have to say that I’m very disappointed that you won’t answer questions. I know you use too but I’m sure you are too busy now.
    I agree with all of these except for earmarking. You should look it up and see that every penny should be earmarked instead of large sums (appropriations) that are given to the executive branch and the treasury to spend as they see fit. I know that if my Representitives are not fighting to bring as much money as possible back to my state (earmarking) which is where it comes from in the first place then they aren’t doing there job. If they did earmark every penny then there would finally be the outcry that is long overdue because people would see exactly (earmarking) where there money is going!
    I appreciate you adding all this info free of charge and at least letting us comment on your blog.

    My message doesn’t quite fit here, but it’ll be close enough. I read in an unbiased media outlet an article about our President. According to the article, Obama is very wise and prudent in making house prices the most affordable they’ve been in twenty years. What a great four months of work he’s done!

    I had a similar post in less detail on my blog. Fun.
    I couple others that I came up with are….
    “Separation of church and state” means “remove God from everything, we make the rules and don’t want to answer to anyone.”
    “Fairness” means “hey broke people, get mad and vote for me because those rich jerks are Conservatives. I’ll give you some of their money.”
    “Lower interest rates” means “we’ll print more money, make you all happy, deflate the value of the dollar and water down the current debt we owe to buy us enough time until we die. Then we won’t have to worry.”

    You are right! I have not had time to answer questions, but this inquiry of yours is so good that I had to take a bit of time for it!
    You are certainly correct, in that ear marks are better than blanket appropriations. However, ear marks are still a way of greasing palms, etc., and if funding is so worthy, it should be comprised in seperate legislation that has to do with the same principles in which the funding was allotted. This is the only way for a citizen to keep up with legislation. Otherwise, any type of ear marking can contribute to any type of thing under headings and argumentation which is totally unrelated.
    Wow, this “government stuff” is complicated!

    I new you were! Thanks for further expanding my knowledge on yet another issue.
    I saw a comment from Ms. Cathy and I know I sure used to feel like she did about torture. Then I researched it more and realized that the majority are just suspects and that the informants who point out who the suspects are get paid for how much info they give(according to military testimony before congress), not for accuracy! Plus the fact that Habeas Corpus has been suspended so we don’t know if they are really guilty or not. If they truly are guilty then why not allow due process? Not to mention that we are doing the very same things that we condemn others for doing(Check out Abu Ghraib prison and tell me that’s not torture!). Water boarding an innocent person hundreds of times is inhumane and to think that they can get any good info that way! Check out Matthew Alexander and his methods of interrogation and you’ll see that there is better proven humane ways to get RELIABLE info without sacrificing our principles!
    Now that Bush started making this seem okay we now have a new president who has(under Napolitano and the DHS) saying that people who don’t like abortion, illegal immigration, who advocate following the Constitution are now also called terrorist. Thanks to Bush’s so called Patriot Act these “right wing terrorists” can now be picked up by simply the DHS printing out there own warrant (as oppose to going to a Judge)and held for as long as they want to hold you. And yes, this is already happening. What makes me so mad about this is all the people who were fighting for the so called Patriot Act made those who were warning of this happening look like conspiracy theorists and even still refuse to admit they were wrong!
    Why oh why don’t politicians ever think about unintended consequences!!!!!!
    Janet Napolitano has since supposedly ordered that to be removed from the report as well as saying that returning vets are possible terrorists too! She has done one thing right and that’s to get rid of the Federal ID! But Conservatives are even upset about that because of course human nature is geared towards giving up freedom for so called security (even though we really aren’t any safer but have more enemy’s than ever thanks to our interventionist foreign policy). That’s what I love about the cashflow quadrant is that it speaks to human nature and not just finances!
    People just really need to think! If God Almighty Himself gave Eve the liberty to disobey Him knowing full well that the consequences were going to be catastrophic then who in the heck is the immoral government to tell people what they can and can’t put in there bodies, do in there bedrooms, how much money they can make etc?!? And of course, any government who takes peoples money by force and makes people pay for embryonic stem cell research and abortion (One every 20 seconds)among other things is totally immoral! Not America but the government is immoral just to be clear.
    Freedom works and that’s why I found it so remarkable that you would say you weren’t a Libertarian when the TEAM is all about Liberty and leading people to the Truth?! I know they can go a little far, like the Libertarian Party is pro abortion. That is clearly wrong but that doesn’t mean I’m going to throw out the baby with the bath water. Ooh, pun not intended!
    There is a difference from the Libertarian Party and the Libertarian Philosophy.
    Thanks for listening and I really appreciate the TEAM for opening my eyes to the things that were going on right in front of me. I saw a sign that said Ron Paul cured my apathy and that’s true for me too but I never would have read his book or for that matter even read any book if it wasn’t for the TEAM! I also would have been overwhelmed and felt like it’s too late and “what could I possibly do” but thanks to the TEAM I know I can make a difference starting with myself and my family and then one person at a time! I heard Dr Paul say that the person who really has had the most to do with where our country is financially is John Keynes! He said that’s why the Revolution is going to be and has to be of the mind not by the sword. He said self education is vital! Thank you TEAM!!
    Oooh, I did a preview and saw how long this is. I didn’t mean to write a book! It’s just I’ve become angered and impassioned about these issues and I really respect you and Orrin so much and would love for you to keep on writing about these issues and maybe talk about torture too please.

    kinda interesting that Obama would want to take credit for the lowering of housing costs, while everyone else is worried that the Loan to Equity value of their home has vanished and that they cannot afford to update the insulation of their homes in response to the upcoming utility bill rate hikes that are coming as part of Obama’s Anti-Carbon footprint legislation.
    oh yah – that’s one “Carbon Footprint” = higher taxes

    MiguelandJinjer,
    I said nothing about torture at GITMO. If our government, or its agents, are guilty of it, they should be censured. I most definitely do not believe in torture in any form to extract information or punish prisoners. That is unconstitutional, against the Geneva Convention for the treatment of enemy combatants and quite simply inhumane.
    That being said, I also do not agree at all with the Obama Administration’s current plan to release the ENTIRE population of GITMO prisoners into the general U.S. population at large. This is with no regard to how they were captured, why they were captured and their potential status as POW’s. To release enemy POW’s into the general population of a people whose sole mission theirs was to destroy, and to support them with my tax dollars through welfare and some form of subsidized health care is simply unconscionable to me.
    Each individual case needs individual review. The Obama Justice Department is prepared, at President Obama’s orders, to instead paint them all with the same broad brush. That would be like taking the prison population of any maximum security facility in this country, and doing them same to them. The public simply wouldn’t stand for it. But because it’s GITMO, and we’ve had all those reports out of Abu Ghraib, it must be okay now, right? NOT!!!
    These socialist phrases are about our government not thinking about the consequences of its actions, before it acts. The situation I have herein described is simply another one.
    And, for what it’s worth, my husband suggests if our government is so bent on releasing these prisoners, they can release them all right — right back to where they were captured, mostly in the wilderness mountains of Afghanistan!! Other than the initial outlay of money to get them there, it would also save our government millions of tax dollars in feeding, clothing and housing them, too . . .

    Basically, Political Correctness is the emotional equivalent of Welfare, because those being coddled with special code language, can’t handle the truth about themselves. So we “soften” the perversion with judgment-neural language, meant to assuage their warped societal perspectives.

    Hey Ms. Cathy,
    The Senate voted on the issue of GITMO prisoners being released here in the US. Here’s an article about it.

    I don’t really understand why people are so afraid of trying them. If they are guilty then they’re guilty and if they are not then let them go. And of course the governemnt should take them back to where they kidnapped them from.
    And what’s the big deal about them being in our prisons until trial(if they aren’t killed in prison first)? There is citizens of the US who are in prison today for domestic terrorism or have been and we weren’t scared to hold them HERE. The same logic should apply. I would bet that a lot of the prisoners in the US would make these suspected terrorists look like eagle hunters compared to them! We just need to flip everything that we are doing to other countries and there citizens around and see how we would like it. If Japan came in and took my Dad in the middle of the night and kept him without trial for 5 years because they said he supposedly was a terrorist but wouldn’t try him then how would we like it! There would be an outcry, movies made (sorta like Brokendown palace as far as the treatment)and militias being formed! And if he was tortured on top of it?!!!
    So, it looks like we are pretty much in agreement except I say that we should treat them how we would want to bet treated if we were in there shoes and that’s a very speedy trial and sentencing (I doubt any jury would really let them go because remember, people want security, but at least we would have given them due process). And we should issue a heart felt apology for not doing this sooner and for that matter(IMHO)we should prosecute everyone involved who denied them due process all the way up to the President because we are supposed to be a Nation of Laws and not men!

    Some of those are just too true, lol. However, I don’t get 12. “Evolution” is code for a “substitute religion which allows the disavowal of God.” Would someone explain how a scientific theory is equivalent to a religion? And the whole disavowal thing is just being redundant since science in general has NOTHING to do with the supernatural, religion or God(s). I suppose that nullifies my question . . .

    Oh, and just so you know, do a google search for “socialist phrases” and see what comes up.
    And this one isn’t a decoder, it’s just a plain good quote, from a lady in the Association of Federal Government Employees, just prior to the election, when I asked her about her glowing review of one candidate for president. She said:
    “He is NOT a Socialist!!! Socialism is government ownership of companies!!!”
    I haven’t seen her yet to ask her what her new definition of Socialism is.

    “Choice” is more than a code for “abortion,” that is the starting point. “Choice” in any government proposal or bill inevitably leads to a restriction in “freedoms” or in other words, if you agree with us, it is a choice….if you don’t we will find a way to ram it down you throat!!!
