To truly understand freedom one must understand economics. I was slow to arrive at this conclusion, but have come to realize that without economic freedom (among others) there is no true individual freedom.

GreatMyths_cover_small Sadly, most people remain in the dark about economics. It is an area shrowded in unnecessary complication and myth, and some of that, I believe, is intentional. A case in point is what is known as the Great Depression. The myths surrounding that terrible period have fostered some of the worst public policy in American history. To clear up these myths Lawrence W. Reed of the Foundation for Economic Education (F.E.E.) has written a clear and consice article entitled Great Myths of the Great Depression. I would suggest you read every word. Hard copies are also available from FEE. (Special thanks to Terry Woychowski for turning me onto this article).

    Hey Chris,
We had a fantastic time in KY!!
I have a simple question for you and again I hope you have the time to answer:)
I was discussing Obama not supporting (financially or militarily) if Israel pre emptively strikes Iran. It came down to the question of what is the proper role of government.
So, based on your knowledge of the Founders and The Constitution my question is what do you think the proper role of government is?
Thanks for your time and for all you do!!

Thanks for that Chris. It’s very eye-opening! I pray to God that we are not “doomed to repeat…”

Howdy Chris, America may be off of the Gold Standard, but there were lots of gold nuggets tossed out in Louisville. Thanks
Comment on your post. It just goes to show that people that don’t know how to create wealth shouldn’t be running the country. Maybe we should have a test that all potential politicians have to pass. “How do you create wealth in a democratic repubic?” Thanks for the truth about the depression

“…should it not be the function of the Federal government under a democracy to limit its activities to those which a democracy may adequately deal, such for example as national defense, maintaining law and order, protecting life and property, preventing dishonesty, and … guarding the public against … vested special interests?” p.11
    I agree.
