Third Time’s the Charm?

The following is from American Affairs magazine, January 1946 issue:

". . . given control of a central banking system and an inconvertible currency [a currency not backed by gold], a sovereign national government is finally free of money worries and needs no longer levy taxes for the purpose of providing itself with revenue. All taxation, therefore, should be regarded from the point of view of social and economic consequences."

From that same article, Beardsley Ruml, chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York at that time, wrote:

"The . . . purpose of federal taxes is to attain more equality of wealth and of income than would result from economic forces working alone."

Then in February 2009, G. Edward Griffin wrote:

"The federal government now could operate – even at its current level of spending – without levying any taxes whatsoever."

These three quotes taken together are staggering. If they are true, they basically are saying that our government's Federal Reserve System is so effective as to "create" money out of nothing sufficient to cover its enormous spending needs. The Federal Income Tax Code is then superfluous. However, who can imagine the government not taking money it has gotten hundreds of millions of us accustomed to giving? Instead, these tax dollars are for the purpose of class warfare and the redistribution of income – in other words, statist control and socialism in support of our burgeoning welfare state.

The more I scratch this itch the more I realize why first Thomas Jefferson and then later Andrew Jackson worked so vehemtly to dismantle the national banks of their eras. Is it even possible for someone to do it a third time?

    Last night, I just read the speech by Francisco d’Anconia regarding money in the book “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand.
    “Whenever destroyers appear among men, they start by destroying money, for money is men’s protection and the base of a moral existence. Destroyers seize gold and leave to its owners a counterfeit pile of paper. This kills all objective standards and delivers men into the arbitrary power of an arbitrary setter of values. Gold was an objective value, an equivalent of wealth produced. Paper is a mortgage on wealth that does not exist, backed by a gun aimed at those who are expected to produce it.”
    I first heard about this book in the late 1990s from a self-employed shop keeper at a medieval renaissance fair who displayed a quote from the book that I liked (I wish I could remember the quote).
    I then heard about this book from a self-employed friend of mine in the early 2000s.
    I heard about this book again from my personal development training system, so I figured I had better read it.
    I have not finished the book yet, but I do notice some parallels of the society in the book and our real world society.
    I think it would more likely be a group of people to dismantle our national bank rather than an individual person.

    I’m sure you already know this but Congressman Dr. Ron Paul has a Audit The Fed Bill that now has over half the House sponsoring it! Even Barney Frank from the left! His goal is to audit them and show the public the evils they have done and then end them!! He says he’s got a long way to go but he believes it could pass this year! He’s encouraging us to now focus on the Senate Bill 604 and call our senators and keep calling them until they sponsor it! You can check this out at CampaignforLiberty.com

    Chris,
    I read earlier this year about Andrew Jackson and his fight against national banks. It was in the excellant biography that was published about him last year, “American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House” by Jon Meacham.
    Because most people don’t understand what a national bank is and what it does, the author had to explain the terms, both on a pro and con basis. In this way, he could more accurately describe the fights and reasons behind them that Jackson had with Congress and the media over dismantalling the system.
    It would seem to me when considering this situation, that what the people in charge want is control and power. Wealth they have. Whatever material thing they want, they can buy.
    But when you are that wealthy and haven’t learned to get that way because of something like the Team System, power and control is what is normally ultimately desired. And this is worked out in the atmosphere that doesn’t acknowledge a Soveriegn God, who rules and reigns over all, and who is the One who is really holding the ultimate power and control.
    While I had heard some of the radical scare talk my brother-in-law believes of one world governments and certain end-times theories and how they relate to banking and the economy, I really didn’t pay them that much attention. I largely blew them off as too “out there” for me, and ignored it.
    However, in light of what I have learned through this blog, the Team and my other readings and studies, I have begun to give more credibility to the theories. Not in a crazed end-times way, but in an attitude that views such things in the ancient wisdom of the following thinkers, wiser than myself:

    “The only prize much cared for by the powerful is power. The prize of the general is not a bigger tent, but command.” Oliver Wendell Holms, Jr., in “Collected Legal Papers”
    “As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free! Our God is marching on!!” Julia Ward Howe, “Battle Hymn of the Republic”
    Thank God for the Team and its leaders, who know power and control belong to God, and working to get it out of the hands of the elite belongs to the rest of us.
