The Ludwig Von Mises blog, always an interesting read, recently posted an article that caught my attention. It's bad enough the overblown religion of global warming has the traction it does, but, hey, everyone is free to believe what they want to believe. But when it starts to become "treason" to oppose such fancies, that's when things have gone too far. For more of the details, check out the blog. Remember, the ferocity with which someone bites back after their ideas have been attacked is often a sign of hysterical fanaticism. We can and should be able to discuss opposing points of view, but name calling is a strategy that usually covers up a deeper motive. (Click on photo for larger image. Gawrsh…
Call me a heretic, then.
How will they classify me? I say the man in the Oval Office is a Communistic, Islamic liar AND an Enemy of the U.S. Constitution.
Add to that the fact that AGW (Anthropomorphic Global Warming) is a hoax dreamed up to destroy the American Economy AND control/dumb down our Constitutional freedoms…
HEY, can one of you send a bottle of active to my prison cell…
…with a file hidden inside the bottle?

This is a common theme lately. Global Warming, Government health care, distribution of others wealth. Seems like this has all been done before and it has never worked. Thanks Chris for helping us stay informed and vigil for our freedoms.

I have been reading your blog for around a year now. Even though I lean to the left and end up disagreeing with most of your political views, I have always respected how you keep an open mind, and honestly search for truth. Even if I disagreed with every word you said in the article, you always made me think about the issue, and expand my own perceptions. However, I do not understand how someone so devoted to discovering truth can dismiss global warming as a non-issue, when it threatens to drive thousands of species to extinction. All scientific evidence I have found shows that carbon levels are rising to a dangerous level. If you search on scholar.google.com (a search engine for scientific research) the vast majority of articles point to a link between carbon emissions and a rise in global temperature. I am curious to see why you feel the way you do about this issue. Thanks. God bless

Chris,
Global warming has been an interesting topic lately in all circles.
If you want to look at it from an evolution scientific view without regard to any spiritual ideas, then the earth has been around a lot longer before people were and it will be around long after the people are gone. Hence, there is no need to worry about if global warming is real or not.
If you want to look at it from a spiritual view without regard to any evolution scientific ideas, then the earth has been around a lot longer before people were (“5 days”) and it will be around long after the people are gone. Hence, there is no need to worry about if global warming is real or not.
Also, if one actually thinks about it, everything that is causing global warming right now has or was already on the earth for many thousands of years. Us people have not created anything. We have only reshaped things that were already on earth when we got here or evolved here. As far as extinction goes, animals come and go. Would our lives be entirely different if dinosaurs and the dodo bird were still around?
a few months ago I saw a Hummer 2 with the license plate “Global Warmer”. I thought that was pretty funny.
Thanks for the thinking session,

Chris,
Science remains to deny and even refute such theories as global warming and its older cousin, evolution. For theories they are, because theories remain such until they are proven, and these cannot be without centuries and perhaps eons of time worth of empiracle evidence. Even so, they argue like evolutionists, despite their own science to the contrary, too.
The ideas proposed by Paul Krugman as quoted in the blog (whose link you so helpfully provided) are just one example of what I have come to believe is near rabid insanity on the part of those who proport themselves to be otherwise rational scientists. These individuals, trained to be dispassionate about their discoveries, have become passionate to the point of hysteria with their claims of global warming.
So, what science is there to the contrary to refute the theories of global warming? Well, we can start with sun spot cycles. Sun spot cycles are wholly out of the control of greenhouse gasses, yet have been influencing the earth’s climate for far longer and in a far greater capacity. There’s also volcanic erruptions. Krakatoa in the 1800’s was a good example, when the world had the “year without a summer” after its erruption, due to the ash it put into the air. The activities of El Nino and La Nina come to mind, as well. Again, ocean currents causing weather patterns wholly not influenced by greenhouse gasses. There are other ocean currents, too. And, least we forget, for those who believe in the Bible, the judgement of God . . .
Humans have done stuff, too, that scientists now say is the responsibility of global warming, when it just isn’t. Desertification in parts of Africa was caused by people cutting down trees in slash-and-burn methods of agriculture, which harmed the soil on a long-term basis. It was caused in China when water was diverted in hydroelectric projects to meet that country’s increasing demands for energy.
I could go on, but I think the point is made. The global warming theory is just that – a theory. Without credible long-term and verifiable evidence to support it one way or the other, it remains a fanciful theory, wholly unproven by science.
Oh, yes, and it also remains, unfortunately, like its elder cousin evolution, an unfortunate football, kicked around by expediency, in the game of politics.

Chris,
I thought I would post an article I wrote back on February 5th, 2009.
I have to ask this question as I sit here in balmy Michigan, the temp -2 degrees. Michigan’s winter has been as cold as any I can remember. The cold has not been limited to my home state. This year snow has fallen in Las Vegas and as far south as Texas and New Orleans. Indeed heavy ice recently blanketed much of the south and this very night freeze warnings are posted for much of Florida. Yet despite all of this it seems as though the sale has already been made, and that the world is buying the global warming hoax.
The constant drumbeat of global warming has permeated all mainstream media outlets. Daily we are barraged with global warming propaganda. Both the republican and democratic presidential candidates espoused the “truth” of global warming. The Inaugural night festivities even included the Green Ball as a dawning of a new age of awareness. A lie repeated enough somehow passes as the truth. I challenge you to watch any PBS nature show without being inundated with suggestions that the climate is warming and that some poor animal is on the edge of extinction because many of you drive SUVs. You have certainly heard of the plight of the polar bear whose home on the massive icy plateaus of the north is vanishing. In one program I recently watched, claims were made that grizzly bears long ago morphed into polar bears due to the cooling of the planet. Apparently these bears aren’t able to reverse the process. Maybe the polar bears just decided just to turn into some type of fish and swim away. This would more accurately reflect the global warmers Darwinian logic wouldn’t it?
The global warming lie should certainly have been revealed by now. I am shocked given all the great journalism that we have in this country. You know the 60 Minutes crew, the Dateline dudes, and the all knowing CNN and New York Times. Oh wait, aren’t these the same folks that perpetuate the lie? The ones who are invested both economically and or politically in its existence? Surely they reported that it snowed in Vegas. Sure they told us that it snowed in New Orleans. I am sure they did, but did they do it in passing, or did they drive it home night after night like the scenes from Katrina? On December 11th, 2008 New Orleans received more than 6 inches of snow. This was the earliest that snowfall had ever been recorded in New Orleans and only the 17th time on record. To put things into proper perspective one would have to be familiar with the Snowegian Formula for determining snow depth. This formula is a complete fabrication of my own. There I at least told you. Al Gore doesn’t have the integrity to tell you he made his stuff up. As I was saying, the Snowegian Formula indicates that the New Orleans snowfall was equivalent to 36 to 42 inches of snowfall in southeast Michigan. Now let me tell you the news would have reported on this in Michigan for three weeks, but it’s suppose to snow here and besides this is just another indication of “Climate Change.”
That’s right the global warmist’s have ran for cover by using the term “climate change” to explain New Orleans and Las Vegas type happenings. They appear to be forfeiting efforts to convince us that we are going to burst into flames at the same time we are guarding against the danger of hypothermia. Even with things not adding up they continue to demand your tax dollars and oppress business and industry to further their agenda. Is it any wonder we find our economy in shambles. The media types have told you for years how horrible the economy was, even when it wasn’t. Now they have told you the planet is warming out of control, it isn’t. There is something interesting with the last two sentences. The media was able to talk us into a depression, all be it with the help of the government encouraged sub-prime mortgages and bailouts. But in regards to global warming, no matter how much hot air is spewed by Al Gore and the media, they can’t speak it into being. The climate simply can’t be influenced like the mood of the people toward their economy and their consumer confidence.
Is Global Warming the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on the world? The answer is no. The biggest lie ever told was that God does not exist. The global warmists who believe that man causes a warming planet, have been the focus of this article. Yes there are other camps in the gw crowd. But those who believe man can actually affect the climate are, in my opinion, those most likely to deny God’s existence. Frankly, I wished we could control the climate. I am sure there would be bi-partisan support for a warming resolution tonight as the forecast calls for temps as low as –15 degrees, nearly 20 degrees below normal. Once again it comes down to knowing why you believe what you believe. Learning to think for oneself is a rare commodity in today’s world where we are so heavily influenced by popular media. Bottom line, there are constant fluctuations in the earth’s temperature, precipitation, and lake and oceanic levels. This is natural. It is all part of the wonderful planet God has provided.I read the comment made by Nick above. I appreciate his seeking the truth. He is correct that carbon dioxide levels are increasing. However, I would take issue with his use of the word dangerous in referring to carbon dioxide levels. I would refer him to a link to a 98 page report issued by Alan Carlin, a 38 year veteran of the EPA http://cei.org/cei_files/fm/active/0/DOC062509-004.pdf. I won’t get bogged down in suggestions that Carlin’s report has been quashed within the agency. Carlin’s report details that carbon dioxide levels and temperature levels are NOT married as the global warmers insist. In fact temps are trending lower. I found this report very helpful. One should also note that carbon dioxide is NOT considered a pollutant.
As time goes by more and more of the global warming propaganda falls by the wayside. Remember the hole in the ozone that was there and gone and there? How about the frogs with no legs or one leg. Well that one is now solved to. Not the result of pollution or excessive UV rays but the dragonfly http://news.bbc.co.uk/earth/hi/earth_news/newsid_8116000/8116692.stm. How about the Great Lakes drying up? Oh yeah they are now above normal. The list goes on and on.
So why would someone like Al Gore push such an agenda? How about money and power. Al Gore’s venture capital firm is deeply invested in Hara, a software company poised to take advantage of President Obama’s Cap and Trade Bill http://www.reuters.com/article/smallBusinessNews/idUSTRE5500S420090601. Quite simply those most in favor of the Cap and Trade legislation find it very compatible with their ultimate goals of heavy taxation and bigger government. Paul Krugman himself is on record stating that 80% taxation is a good thing. Quite simply that’s not the America I want.LikeLike

HOwdy Chris, Once upon a time all of the land mass on Earth was one continent, not 7 continents. Did man cause it to divide into 7 continents? No. Once upon a time dinosaurs roamed the earth. Did man cause their extinction? No Once upon a time huge mountains of ice, glaciers, slowly pushed their way across much of the United States. Did man cause these glaciers? No. There are forces at work on this planet besides man. One of them happens to be God the Creator and HE is still creating.
Great Post Chris, Thanks SkipperLikeLike

You’ve got to be awed & humbled by the mighty power of Mother Nature.
I just saw literal, photographic evidence of her awesome, evolutionary power.
Somewhere in the hills of South Dakota there exists a mountain that, after millions of years of torrential rains, blasting winds and laser accurate, precision lightning bolt strikes…bears an absolutely UNCANNY resemblance to not one, not two or three, but FOUR former U.S. Presidents.
And it looks like this:

Bob Chapman’s influential International Forecaster is reporting on the possibility of a so-called “bank holiday” planned for late August or early September. According to Chapman’s sources, U.S. embassies around the world are selling dollars and stockpiling money from respective countries where they operate.
FDR imposed a “bank holiday” soon after taking office. It resulted in the government stealing gold from the American people and giving them useless fiat paper money in return.
“Some US embassies worldwide are being advised to purchase massive amounts of local currencies,” writes Harry Schultz, “enough to last them a year.” Schultz publishes the Harry Schultz Letter, an international investment, financial, economic, and geopolitical newsletter named as “Newsletter of the Year” by Peter Brimelow of Market Watch in 2005 and 2008.
Schultz believes the global elite are in the process of engineering an FDR-style “bank holiday” of undetermined length in order to “sort-out the bank mess” and impose new bank rules.
On March 5, 1933, in the depths of the banker engineered “Great Depression,” newly elected Franklin Roosevelt declared a “bank holiday” that forced banks closed for four days. Roosevelt then rammed the Emergency Banking Act through the legislature. Passed by Congress on March 9, the act granted FDR near dictatorial control over the dealings of banks. It also allowed the Secretary of the Treasury the power to compel every person and business in the country to relinquish their gold and accept paper currency in exchange.
On March 10, Roosevelt issued Executive Order No. 6073, forbidding people from sending gold overseas and forbidding banks from paying out gold. A few weeks later, on April 5, Roosevelt issued Executive Order No. 6102 ordering Americans to deliver their gold and gold certificates to the Federal Reserve bank in exchange for paper fiat money.
In other words, FDR engaged in one of history’s greatest rip-offs — that is until now.
FDR not only ripped-off the American people, but foreigners holding dollars as well, thus ensuring the “Great Depression” would spread around the world like a bankster engineered contagion.
As Schultz notes, another forced “bank holiday” will likely lead to a formal devaluation of the already broadsided U.S. dollar. “But devalue against what? The euro? Doubtful. Gold? Maybe. Or vs. the IMF basket of currencies,” which he feels is more likely.
In fact, this is precisely what the globalist have in mind. In March, the media reported the IMF was poised print billions of “global quantitative easing” dollars to be dubbed global “super-currency” to address the (bankster engineered) economic crisis. “The principle behind it is that everyone would get bonus dollars and instead of the Federal Reserve having to print them, everyone gets them,” declared Simon Johnson, former chief economist at the IMF.
Can you say inflation?
It is no secret the elite have envisioned a global currency for some time now. In 2007, the director of international economics at the Council on Foreign Relations stated that the dollar and the euro are but temporary currencies. “It is the market that made the dollar into global money – and what the market giveth, the market can taketh away. If the tailors balk and the dollar falls, the market may privatize money on its own,” Benn Steil pontificated.
More like the banksters taketh away — and not only money but national sovereignty as well because a global currency will demand an end to “monetary nationalism.”
Or as Richard N. Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, has said, “states must be prepared to cede some sovereignty to world bodies if the international system is to function.”
Mr. Schultz believes a “bank holiday” would suit the burning desires of the international bankster elite. It will lead to “nationalization,” which is a polite word for brazen thievery. It will allow the government — owned lock, stock and barrel by the global elite and run by their corrupt whores and cronies — to rape secured creditors and bondholders. Nationalization is the unfettered process of grabbing up of insurance companies, mortgage companies, banks, medical care, and car companies and handing them over to the monopoly men.
During the FDR “bank holiday,” Schulz notes, “thousands of banks never reopened; it was a face-saving way of shutting them down. I would guess the same would occur today; thousands have little or no net value, loaded with debt, bad mortgages.”
In order soften the nation up for the coming pillage, the Obama administration has proposed a plan to give the privately-owned and unaccountable Federal Reserve complete regulatory oversight across the entire U.S. economy. The new rules would see the Fed given the authority to “regulate” any company whose activity it believes could threaten the economy and the markets — that is to say if it “threatens” the monopolistic interests of the bankers.
“Obama’s regulatory ‘reform’ plan is nothing less than a green light for the complete and total takeover of the United States by a private banking cartel that will usurp the power of existing regulatory bodies, who are now being blamed for the financial crisis in order that their status can be abolished and their roles handed over to the all-powerful Fed,” write Paul Joseph and Steve Watson. “The government is ready to hand over everything to a monolithic private corporation and a gaggle of bastard banker offspring, that have gobbled up an amount close to the entire GDP of the country in taxpayers’ money and figuratively stuck the middle finger up regarding questions over where that money has gone.”
A “bank holiday” would work wonders for any “regulation” the Fed and the bankers have in mind. It would compliment the criminal consolidation now underway. It would allow them to finally and formally devalue the dollar and usher in a global “super currency” of control and enslavement.
A Bob Chapman subscriber added a little dinger to the prospect of the banks going dark. The subscriber claims to have overheard two men in FEMA jackets talking with a police chief in California, all who agreed that the federalization of police around the country — a process largely complete — will be required if the banks are shuttered in late August or early September because it will get “ugly” out there.
No doubt. Because the sort of enduring and polite American who weathered the “Great Depression” is now in seriously short supply.
If Mr. Schultz’s prediction is correct, we can expect riots in bank foyers and ultimately martial law to be imposed.LikeLike

Chris,
I was present at the Major Leadership Convention when Bob McEwen explained that Global Warming was a hoax. I do not agree that this is true, but I also understand that there are many negative effects caused by this issue.
HOWEVER, I feel that the point is completely irrelevant. We’re asking ourselves the wrong question. I don’t think it matters whether or not our actions have contributed to climate change. The question is, rather, “Are we being the BEST possible stewards of this beautiful gift of a planet? Are we using our resources wisely?”
And the answer is quite obviously, in my opinion, NO. I feel that this is another great example of how we can be great leaders in the world: Instead of trying to decide if humans are to blame for the environmental issues on earth, and who should get the penalties and how we can FORCE people to change, we have the opportunity to say “Hey, who cares whether or not we can justify the pollution we’ve caused, or if it’s as serious as we think… the point is, we can always do better, so let’s keep innovating. Let’s keep moving forward, with a healthier focus on being proper stewards of our land and its resources. Period!”
I will give an example: The combustion engine. Is it morally wrong for us to use it? No. Is it the best possible practice? Definitely not. It is definitely not the most efficient way to produce energy. The technology was outdated almost thirty years ago! People have created some fantastic inventions that would benefit both the consumer, and the environment. But they have been bought out by the oil companies, because it would threaten their business. For example, if it were possible to simply fill up our vehicles with water, have the hydrogen extracted and used as fuel (don’t know how far fetched that is or not…?), then we would have no need for gasoline. The reason we still have hybrids is not because we have not figured out how to make electric cars, but that the oil companies have not found a way to make money on them.
Now, I don’t blame them. Because what I’ve begun to realize is that businesses also have a survival instinct just like people (you usually don’t start a business with the goal of it eventually being shut down). So what happens is that the businesses strive to continue to grow and expand, and continue to offer products or services, even if their products, services, or methods are later discovered to be detrimental to humans. So I don’t blame the CEO’s… that’s the job: grow the company, make more money.
BUT, progress is stifled. And that is only one example. There are many ways in which we could be vastly more efficient with our resources (which, if we could shift the mentality, would also largely influence the economy!). There are many ways we could cut waste, reduce emissions (of harmful chemicals, I would add… they surely can’t be HELPING our health… even if you could argue that they don’t harm the environment), and reduce the harm we cause to the planet.
As leaders, I don’t think we can allow ourselves to look for reasons that prove or disprove climate change… the facts, they are pesky things… and the fact is, we could be doing a lot better. Let’s not complain and grumble about how bad we are for the planet, but let’s not settle for “Good enough” either– we need solutions, not excuses. Let’s plan an assault on the status quo and get a shift of mentality going… there’s tons we can do as a community to change our habits and take better care of the land we’ve been bestowed. Let’s be grateful for our beautiful planet and made a difference together!LikeLike

Chris,
This popped into my mind when looking at the quotes from Ronald Reagan.
If someone wants global warming to be fixed, then monetize the issue and ask an entrepreneur to fix the problem. They would gladly do it of course, for a small fee paid by the people of the world.
Entrepreneurs solve problems, governments don’t.
Thanks,
JohnLikeLike
