    Howdy Chris, I have know a lot of presidents since 1959. None of them was more of a leader than Ronald Reagan. He would cast a vision using those principles that were given us by God and the founders of this country and surround himself with people that would fulfill it. That is the kind of leader we need today, a visionary who knows the correct principles and has a team who will work to fulfill thos principles.

    Congratulations, Chris,
    You found the best of the best of Ronald Reagan’s quotes.
    He was a President who was both totally understandable and completely quotable. No speechmaker, no matter how good, could have come up with the funny, wise and to-the-point things such as these Ronald Reagan did in his years as President. Even when some disagreed with him, they had to concede his points, because of how he’d said it. Few did it as masterfully before him, and none as consistently. None have come anywhere close since.
    I read in his autobiography by Peggy Noonan that it is believed Ronald Reagan’s success with saying such things came from his years as a stump speaker for a major manufacturer. In a time when it seemed like his acting career was trashed, and all he could get for work was to host a television show and travel around speaking on the “rubber chicken circuit” for the company that sponsored it, he honed both his speaking skills and political views. He listened to the people he spoke to, heard their wants, needs and fears, their likes and dislikes, and learned how much like them he was, and how like them we all are. He perfected people skills out there, just as a sheer survival skill. He learned in those harsh years, as no politician has before or since, what the people wanted and didn’t want, and how to talk to them about it in their language, calling them to ideals without talking down to them. These things he learned became the secret of his genius, both with people and in politics. He later admitted his fiery furnace became the crucible of his ultimate success.
    It kind of sounds like Ronald Reagan went through his own version of the Team system on his road to President . . .

    It really saddens me that someone like you, who we have clearly seen has much character and integrity, would admire someone who clearly did not. Reagan ignored the Constitution when he felt he was doing something for the greater good and now I can see that that’s what type of leader you want for this Country.
    It’s so sad that Reagan is the hero of the right and Obama is the hero of the left both just based on their oratory skills and not their actions!

    This past election I had to vote the only way I knew which would allow me to sleep well at night.
    I wrote in on an absentee ballot and sent it in:
    President: Orrin Woodward
    Vice President: Chris Brady
    I’d be willing to switch those people around on the ballot if that’s what you two decide.
    Don’t chuckle and blow it off. I’m dead serious. I’m ready to stop talking about hope and change (snort).. and actually make it happen.

    Whether or not Ronald Reagan had character or integrity (I was young when he was President), here are some more from Ronald Reagan that I believe in:

    Hi, Chris,
    Thanks for these gems from Pres. Reagan (although I know he wasn’t yet president for many of them).
    I got to visit the Reagan Presidential Library last month in Simi Valley like you mentioned on the CD “Character,” and I got over $200 of memorabilia from the gift shop, almost entirely in books, CD speech recordings, and DVDs. The ones where he himself wrote/delivered the material are of course the best, as is the case for any biographical material on anyone. Mr. Reagan had courage, humor, honor, intellect, and reverence. He wrote nearly all his own speeches, which means that he wasn’t simply a figurehead. I have even made a “Reagan in 2012” sign for the rear window on my car. Some people will smirk and roll their eyes (not only is he no longer alive; he already served two terms); others will know what I mean by that sign.
    The more and more I learn from and about this man, the more I love and respect him. You’re right; we haven’t had another like him yet. I think he was the best from all of 1950-2000. I can’t wait for another president like him. So far I only know of one present-day person I can think of who comes close as a candidate.
    For anyone who thinks Mr. Reagan was memorable and loved only for his oration (which is a dangerous idea, regardless of party or platform, viz Hitler and many others) I encourage them to learn about the actions that Ronald Reagan took when in office, the reasons why, and listen to his own words that he spoke about his thinking, such as his 3-minute radio show from circa 1975-1979 which you can buy on CD as “Reagan in His Own Voice.” He did all his own research, all his own writing, and was a man who dealt in great ideas. I wish I had met him while he was here on Earth.
