Success You can succeed.  You have the right stuff.  The seeds of greatness reside deep inside you; all that's required is for you to water them with dreams and effort.

Why is it so difficult for people to believe great things for themselves? Do they really think other people (the ones succeeding in life and living their dreams) are really that much better? Do they believe in luck or chance?

The successful simply had the audacity to mount a pursuit of their dreams. They had the guts to try, the tenacity to stick with it, and the stubbornness not to quit.

Perhaps you need to consider the fear of regret that will result if you don't make the attempt.  Maybe you will find that fear to be stronger than the one holding you back. Your dream life is available for the taking. What are you waiting for?

    Chris:
What a great post. We all need to be reminded that we can succeed.
Too often, I believe, we all have those doubts about ourselves. Seeing this encouragement in print fuels our inner fires.
You know what many say, seeing is believing, so thank you for your
constant uplifting of everyone to their greatest potential.
I for one truly appreciate it.
    God Bless.

    Chris,
Thank you for this post. I read and re-read it over and over again. It is one I will be returning to and re-reading again in the future.
You asked, “Why is it so difficult for people to believe great things for themselves?” I have some answers for you. You might find them to be excuses. I have simply seen them to be true in people’s lives.
In many cases, it’s an issue of early programming. When people are raised in an environment of disapproval, negativity or downright abuse, the constant barrage on tender souls can take years to overcome. Even the most naturally strong and resilliant personality types need recovery time, reams of positive books and nurturing by loving mentors and friends, who just keep pumping love and belief into them.
Everyone, even those with a “perfect” childhood, has Obstacles hollering in their ears. Those who grew up with an atmosphere of disapproval, negativity or outright abuse have the voice of their tormentor(s) hollering right along with Obstacles. It can take years of CD’s and positive from mentors to drown them out!
For people who lead, it’s an issue of patience and never giving up on the folks they are leading. Sometimes it will seem like “two steps forward, one back” mode forever. Let them come at their own pace, however glacial it seems to you. Because as long as they keep coming around you, as long as they keep listening and reading, they are trying to work with you in the process to believe in themselves like you do. And when they start to, they will love you forever and then surprise you with what they do . . .

Thank you for this reminder. This is something I struggle with and need to fix because even if you are dreaming and putting action in if you don’t believe you can then no one does either. Thank you again for this encouragement.

“What to say when you talk to yourself” is still one of the best books to help folks recognize how much negative we feed ourselves on a daily basis. Thanks for reminding us that we are worthy and it is ok to go after success in our lives.

You ask why is it so hard for people to believe great things for themselves. Maybe it is when you see your parents have dreams that didn’t come true. Then none of your dreams come true. You think you are doing everything to work towards those dreams, but maybe not. Of course because you don’t believe in yourself, others see that & how can they believe in you? Even when you believe that God wants great things for all of His children, you don’t think that includes you. You think that maybe you don’t deserve those dreams. I don’t know. Maybe you had a parent leave you when you were small and you think I must not be loveable because the person who should love me most, doesn’t. There are so many things that make so many people wonder about their own worth. The books and CDs help people who struggle with that. I just know that many people struggle with these and other challenges. All we can all do is point them in the direction of good information and love them where they are and pray for them. It’s hard to re-program a head and a heart that don’t believe that success is out there for them. Maybe even their head tells them it is possible, but their heart is broken and can’t quite believe it. I always hear it has to go from your head to your heart. Oh well, maybe with enought love it does eventually go to your heart.

    Chris,
“Your dream life is available for the taking. What are you waiting for?”
This reminds me of the book I am currently reading “The 4-hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferriss that was mentioned on Orrin’s blog a couple of weeks ago.
We should all focus on living our dream lifestyles!
    Thanks,
    John

    Chris,
I am finishing a book geared toward this discussion. It’s Max Lucado’s “Facing Your Giants.”
The book is written from the perspective of the successes and failures in the life of Biblical King David. In it, he talks all about facing the things that you fear, the things that have strongholds in your life, the things that have discouraged and defeated you in the past, and winning against them. He offers not just theory, but practical strategies along with his encouragement and humor.
I am learning a lot reading it, strongly recommend it.

    Dear Cathy,
I certainly feel you on this, my husband and I were involved in a business a bit back with Chris and Terri Brady (we love them, have all their books and have followed them for over 15 years, ( sooo many obstacles we’ve overcome) what you said was sooo true ❤️ And the “Brady’s” are those leaders, that’s why we are again involved in Life with them, but we are certainly not FAST by far, we will get there and Pray YOU DO ALSO! Trust me the information and teaching they’ve provided has honestly kept a family together, but Chris is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT on this, the regrets oh my the regrets, We have certainly been faced with them lately, we have many, so it’s our plan to to move quicker and do more this year!!God willing❤️ Life, simply life…..
